Hey guys! There were no coupons in the Sunday paper this week but you can still save money when you shop! Hopefully you have been saving money by planning your meals and making a menu with items you have in your stockpile. With the new baby, I haven't been able to hit the store very often so my stockpile is getting low. Today I went to Meijer with the intention of buying ground beef but none of it was on sale. So I looked around.
I found whole chicken for $1.09/lb., Italian Sausage $1.83/lb., and Chorrizo $1.83/lb! I try to stock up on ground beef (I get USDA Chuck because its way healthier!) when it's around $2.50 a pound. Well, since it wasn't on sale it was almost $4 a pound! So with the items I chose for this week, I ended up getting a really great deal- and we'll be having some new recipes in the menu. I stocked up on my canned veggies since they were on sale for 50¢. I also stocked up on my hubby's favorite tomato soup that was on sale for 49¢. He also loves Rwanda coffee. The coffee creamers were on sale so I grabbed his favorite flavor along with 2 other new ones for him to try. Overall, I got enough groceries to last my family of 6 for the week plus a few treats for just $36!!!
Tips to Remember:
*Friday you can check out the early ads to see if you're getting the best price this week or if it's going to be cheaper next week.
*Stock up on staple items when they hit there lowest price.
*Plan your menu around whats on sale- you'll save money and try new recipes.
*Try to plan 3-5 meals from your stockpile so you can use most of your grocery money to stock up on staple items when sales are great.
